Planting Seeds of Faith – Growing in Faith – Week 4

Growing In Faith

By Barby Bowser, Communications

“But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.” 2 Peter 3:18

Jesus often used parables and language related to gardening or farming – faith the size of a mustard seed, a farmer sowing seeds, a shepherd going in search of a lost sheep. Is it any wonder that, when we think about Easter, images of growth, fruiting and multiplication fill our minds?

How often do we take the advice of Peter, and “grow in the grace and Knowledge of our Lord and Savior?” Those seeds of faith that have taken root in us cannot flourish or fruit without nourishment and care. It’s something I struggle to do, though. Finding time for intentional prayer, spiritual growth, and fellowship with other believers feels impossible with a busy schedule, but Oh! how my soul flourishes and God’s voice becomes louder when I do!

Even though it may feel impossible, those moments tending to our soul connect us to the nourishment of our living Creator and Redeemer through the Holy Spirit. We can then pour into the lives of others, expanding the “footprint” of God’s living, breathing, garden.

Reflection Question:

How am I making time and space to allow God to nourish and grow my faith and the faith of the people around me?
