Four Weeks of Advent Series

The energetic conversations of young people mingle with joyful, encouraging responses from the senior adults at Mt. Calvary A.M.E. Church in Detroit, Michigan. When the congregation began worshiping online prior to COVID, they noticed that many more young people were participating, so when they reopened, the pastor and leadership began a multi-generational approach to fully invite young people into the life of the church. They nurtured a culture of spiritual mentorship, with the senior adults walking alongside the young people (between 8 and 15 years of age). With the help of an Equipping the Local Church grant this year, the youth have begun to interview the older adults to hear and record their stories, and the senior adults are encouraging and supporting the youth in their faith walk.
