United Theological Seminary – A Foundation for Evangelism Innovation Grant Recipient

Imagine being so moved by what you experience in a theology class that you write a letter to your child about your spiritual journey. For Texas student, Eun Rae Lee, a Wesleyan Theology course prompted just that:
“Reading about Susanna Wesley moved me to write a letter to my own child, sharing reflections on faith. I realized theology is not just intellectual—it’s something to be practiced in daily life.”
This is just one transformative experience of many at United Theological Seminary (UTS)’s Korean House of Study, one of two Language-Based Houses of Study that help prepare leaders responding to God’s call to share the Good News across cultures and continents.
The Foundation for Evangelism is providing an Innovation Grant to UTS which equips Spirit-led leaders who share the Gospel in English, Spanish, and Korean. These master’s and certificate level courses are taught by adjuncts who are native Spanish and Korean speakers. There are also adjuncts teaching English certificate level courses in missions, evangelism, apologetics, and Wesleyan theology.
Through this partnership, United Theological Seminary’s Language-Based Houses of Study have flourished. Over the past year, more than 180 students engaged in courses such as Church Renewal for Mission, Wesleyan Theology, and Philosophical Foundations for a Christian Worldview. Supported by gifted adjunct faculty, students are learning theology that speaks directly to their ministry contexts—where classroom lessons meet lived-out faith.
In the Korean House of Study (KHOS), students described profound personal and spiritual transformation.
“My ministry has been deeply transformed through studying in UTS’s KHOS,” shared Dahee Chung, MDiv student from Chicago.
James (Chong-up) Kim of New York reflected on how his studies shaped his preaching and faith, “Studying church history challenged me to align my faith with my actions—to truly embody what I teach.”
In New Jersey, Nanho Lee shared how learning to write and preach with clarity helped her “communicate faith with conviction.”
And cross the world in rural South Korea, Rev. Tae-Hwa Song discovered renewed vitality in pastoral care for the elderly in his community.
Through partnership with The Foundation for Evangelism, UTS is educating and equipping a new generation of faithful, multilingual leaders who think theologically, serve compassionately, and proclaim the Good News of Jesus across cultures and continents.
