Gospel Leaders

I now have a very different view of evangelism. I actually have begun to think that I could evangelize! Before I took the class, that seemed like something that only a few could do.

Leaders Training Leaders

For over 40 years the Foundation for Evangelism has made grants to institutions of higher learning, partnering with global experts in Wesleyan evangelism to train, resource, and mentor the next generation of local church leaders.

Raising up Gospel Leaders grants address the FULL spectrum of Christian leadership, from lay ministers to seminary-prepared leaders, preparing them and the churches they lead for the ever-changing ministry landscape.

Building on the Foundation’s decades long grant experience in leadership development, these professors are chosen for their ability and passion to equip leaders across the spectrum of Christian service.

Through a 3-5 year grant partnership with training entities across the Wesleyan-tradition family, professors will equip and renew passionate, evangelistic leaders – from lay ministers and local pastors to ordained clergy and other Christian vocational professions.

These professors are using their foundation-supported positions to:

  • Developed programs for churches to talk about Jesus in multireligious communities – Jack Jackson (Claremont School of Theology)
  • Teach online courses using innovative tools to help students develop creative practices of evangelism – Mark Teasdale (Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary)
  • Translate vital church resources on evangelism for Spanish speaking leaders. – Doug Powe (Wesley Theological Seminary) Hal Knight (Saint Paul School of Theology), and Angel Santiago-Vendrell (2010-2023 Asbury Theological Seminary)
