The Foundation for Evangelism held its annual donor
recognition banquet on October 30, 2010 at the Terrace Auditorium, Lake
Junaluska, N.C.
The evening began with prayer by Dr. Kwasi Kena of The General Board of
Discipleship of The United Methodist Church. During the banquet several
individuals were recognized, including the 2010 Distinguished
Evangelist of The United Methodist Church, Rev. Shane Bishop.

Vibrant Church Series -
Kerrville UMC
Part of a series of
interviews with pastors of churches whose attendance has grown 20% or
more in 5 years.
This month we
focus on a church that is not the norm for our Vibrant Church series.
Most churches have been in population growth areas. This time around we
bring you Kerrville UMC.
Sixteen years ago, Kerrville First United Methodist Church in Kerrville,
Texas had 1,398 members. Now there are 2,682 members, in a town of
20,000 that has a growth rate under 2%. Although located in a
non-growth area, this congregation is doing very traditional things
well, with dramatic results.

Remembering
Catherine Copeland
On November 1, 2010, Catherine Copeland passed away
in San Antonio, Texas.
Mrs. Copeland served as a Trustee of The Foundation for Evangelism
during some of our most formative years. She left the
board only when asked by then Foundation President,
Dr. Charles Kinder, to assume a critical role on the Development and
Promotion staff at the Foundation.
Mrs. Copeland was instrumental in ensuring the success of the
grand vision cast by the Trustees - the E. StanleyJones Professors of

Advisory
Trustees Recognized
The
Foundation for Evangelism Advisory Trustees were recognized Thursday
evening, October 28, during the Foundation's annual board meeting.
Lane Rees, board chair, emceed during the evening's
dinner and shared the history of the Advisory Trustees.
The Foundation for Evangelism was established as a lay organization,
but its board quickly realized that they needed the wisdom and
knowledge of clergy to help guide their work. At first, this group of
clergy was called Staff Ministers, then Regional Directors, and most
