This year, Dr. Robert Tuttle, Jr.,
retires from his position as E. Stanley Jones Professor of Evangelism
at Asbury Theological Seminary in Orlando, Fla.
Yet, he is not so much retiring as shifting focus.
Tuttle still plans to teach, including intensive short learning
experiences, an online class to 27 students with 20 more on a waiting
list, and the Festival of Faith weekend in local churches once a month.
He also plans to teach internationally.
In retrospect, Dr. Tuttle feels that God was able to use
his experiences in teaching to help him think theologically, from a
behavioral perspective, and to be open to the leading of the Holy
Spirit.
For over 25 years, he has served as educator to countless individuals
whose passion for evangelism lead to a higher calling. Dr. Tuttle began
his tenure as E. Stanley Jones Professor at the Garret-Evangelical
Theological Seminary in 1985, and since 2000 has been an E.S.J.
Professor at Asbury's Orlando Campus. When asked what his most
rewarding moment as a professor has been, Tuttle responded, "I've
loved every minute of it!"...

The Foundation for Evangelism is
surveying the attendance patterns of thousands of UMC congregations
There are hundreds of churches that have experienced 20%
or more attendance growth in five years. Let's celebrate such results
together.
We have interviewed many pastors of such churches about their ministry
of evangelism to learn to what they can attribute such growth. We will
regularly post insights from pastors of these churches along with
contact information for that church on our website. This goes to the
heart of the mission of the Foundation, to provide resources for
evangelism that enable the Church to bring persons into a personal
relationship with Jesus Christ. Perhaps this resource will help you
find an idea to start increasing worship attendance at your church.
This month is Owasso UMC in Owasso, OK..

Life Insurance as a Planned
Giving Option
Life insurance is most often used throughout
life to provide protection and security for family members
or
as a retirement instrument. Life insurance is also an attractive way
for friends of The Foundation for Evangelism to make a charitable gift
because it is a flexible, cost-effective, and in many cases
tax-advantaged way to make a major gift. Life insurance can also be
used as an asset-replacement strategy. Under this strategy, a donor
makes a gift of an asset (such as appreciated securities) to the nonprofit
and replaces the value of that asset to benefit his/her heirs with a
life insurance policy that eliminates estate taxes on the benefit
amount.
To determine how best to use life insurance as a charitable gift, we
recommend the following checklist as part of an annual financial
review:
