Refresh Conference for Campus Ministers

The Refresh Conference is an annual event funded by The Foundation for Evangelism to offer a time of spiritual growth and refreshment for persons in Campus Ministry.  The conference was first held at Duke Divinity School in 2005 and from this meeting was born the College Union online community and the Refresh Conference.

“This was one of the most spiritually rich experiences of my life!”  “Every year it just gets better and better.”  When you hear reports from a gathering that begin with those words you can’t wait to learn more or to become involved.

The Foundation for Evangelism, in partnership with The Woodlands United Methodist Church, sponsored the Refresh 2007 Conference at The Woodlands December 3 – 6, 2007.

Ninety-six campus ministers attended sessions designed to minister to and refresh these weary servants.  Sessions that fed the spirit and bathed the soul in the Holy Spirit were conducted throughout the conference as well as intimate quiet times for individuals to share their stories together.

There were performances by Matt Maher, nationally recognized musician, as well as The Woodlands Praise band.  J.D. Walt ably led services, two each day of the event, where campus ministers served and were served by one another in spirit-filled worship experiences. In addition to worship services there were workshops to help the campus ministry staff be better prepared to meet the needs of today’s college students.

Jack Ewing, Executive Director of The Foundation for Evangelism, reported that the “spirit and energy on the part of these servants of God – these Campus Ministers – was overwhelming and simultaneously energizing for all of us.  We are so pleased to provide financial support to a group with such potential for leading young persons through the experience of the transforming love of God through Jesus Christ and on to leadership positions in the United Methodist Church.”
