Gifts of Money

A gift of money -- usually in the form of a check -- is the easiest gift for The Foundation to use.  It can be applied as you direct, and the tax consequences are easily calculated.  The money you give to The Foundation can be an itemized deduction for income tax purposes, resulting in savings to you at tax time.  These tax savings can increase your ability to give.

For example, you may plan to make a gift of $1,500 to The Foundation.  However, after reviewing your tax bracket and other factors, you may learn that a gift to The Foundation of $2,443 can be made for the same after-tax cost as a non-deductible gift of $1,500.

You can deduct charitable gifts of money to The Foundation in an amount of up to 50% of your adjusted gross income, but with other assets 20% and 30% limits may apply.   Your actual tax savings will depend upon your tax bracket and other factors.  Depending on the laws of your particular state, your gift may also be exempt from state income taxation.

Gifts of money may be used in a variety of ways.  An unrestricted gift allows the funds to be used where they are most needed.  It is difficult to predict where opportunities will arise, and unrestricted gifts allow The Foundation for Evangelism to respond effectively.

Gifts of money may be directed to specific areas, such as Discover God’s Call, the Fitzgerald Academy for New Church Pastors, Professors of Evangelism, the Common Sense Fund and others.  The Foundation’s Development Office will be happy to answer any questions you may have about directed gifts.
