Thriving organizations have crystal clarity of who they are, what they do, why they do it, and how they do it. With the awarding of the first venture capital grants we have definitively answered these questions for The Foundation for Evangelism.
Who – We are a foundation (not a program provider).
What – We provide grants.
Why – Because we are passionate about helping people experience God’s transforming love through Jesus Christ.
How – By encouraging organizations within The United Methodist Church to envision and develop initiatives that will develop leaders with a passion for evangelism.
As excited as we are about the four venture capital grants awarded, each of which will develop leaders with a passion for evangelism, the most exciting aspect is the multiplying impact this process has had and will have on the UMC. In 2008 seventy UM organizations planned initiatives to develop leaders with a passion for evangelism. While only four were funded, many of these initiatives will be carried out using other resources. Numerous of those initiatives would not have been envisioned if not for the Foundation. We will repeat this process annually as funds are available.
