Wood Named Executive Director, Acting President for The Foundation for Evangelism

LAKE JUNALUSKA, N.C. – The Foundation for Evangelism announced today that Jane Wood will serve as Executive Director and acting President for the organization beginning June 18, 2012. Wood will succeed Rev. Neil Blair, who resigned in May. Board chair, Mary Brooke Casad, states, “Jane brings with her a great passion for evangelism and a long history with the organization that will help move the ministry of The Foundation for Evangelism forward in new and bold directions.”

Mrs. Wood previously served as Vice President of the Foundation prior to assuming this position. She has served various roles in the organization since 2004. Mrs. Wood brings with her an extensive knowledge of The Foundation for Evangelism, as well as 25 years experience in business and foundation management. She also holds an MBA from Western Carolina University. As an active leader in her local church and district, Mrs. Wood serves in a number of positions including National Treasurer for The Council on Evangelism, District Lay Leader and board member in the Smoky Mountain District of Western North Carolina Annual Conference, and Co-leader for the Visioning and Task Force at First United Methodist Church in Waynesville, N.C.

The Foundation for Evangelism, a United Methodist non-profit organization, awards grants for the development and training of leaders in The United Methodist Church. Founded in 1949 by the late Dr. Harry Denman, the Foundation provides grants for E. Stanley Jones Professors of Evangelism at select seminaries, Doctoral Education, Leadership Development, and Leadership Enrichment within the context of the Wesleyan tradition. The Foundation for Evangelism’s Board of Trustees is made up of leaders with a passion for evangelism from throughout the United States.
