LAKE JUNALUSKA, NC – Mary Brooke Casad of McKinney, Texas, was named chair of The Foundation for Evangelism board of trustees at its annual meeting in October. A native of Louisiana, Mrs. Casad serves as executive secretary of The Connectional Table of The United Methodist Church. Mrs. Casad has previously worked for the United Methodist Reporter and served on the committee that produced The United Methodist Hymnal (1989). A delegate to The United Methodist General and Jurisdictional Conferences multiple years, she is a member of the South Central Jurisdiction Episcopacy Committee, the Texas Methodist Foundation, and is a former board member of the Southern Methodist University Wesley Foundation. Mrs. Casad is the first woman to hold the board chair position in the history of The Foundation for Evangelism.
The Foundation for Evangelism, a United Methodist non-profit, awards grants for the development and training of leaders in The United Methodist Church. Founded in 1949 by the late Dr. Harry Denman, the Foundation provides grants for Doctoral Education, Leadership Development, and Leadership Enrichment within the context of the Wesleyan tradition. The Foundation for Evangelism’s Board of Trustees is made up of United Methodist leaders from throughout the United States. It is an affiliate of the General Board of Discipleship of The United Methodist Church.
