Bishop Bruce Ough Joins National Board

LAKE JUNALUSKA, NC – Bishop Bruce Ough of Columbus, Ohio, was welcomed as a new trustee to The Foundation for Evangelism board. Bishop Ough is the resident bishop of the Ohio West Area of The United Methodist Church. Prior to his election as bishop in July 2000, Bishop Ough served as the senior pastor of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, a 2,800 member congregation in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He also served five years as district superintendent of the Cedar Rapids District of the Iowa Conference of The United Methodist Church.

Bishop Ough has received numerous awards, honors and professional recognition, and he has published a number of professional and inspiration articles for The Upper Room Disciplines, Peniel and Weavings. He was also a contributor to The Spiritual Formation Bible (Zondervan 1999).

The Foundation for Evangelism, a United Methodist non-profit, awards grants for the development and training of leaders in The United Methodist Church.  Founded in 1949 by the late Dr. Harry Denman, the Foundation provides grants for Doctoral Education, Leadership Development, and Leadership Enrichment within the context of the Wesleyan tradition. The Foundation for Evangelism’s Board of Trustees is made up of United Methodist leaders from throughout the United States. It is an affiliate of the General Board of Discipleship of The United Methodist Church.
