MICHAEL HOON YANG JOINS NATIONAL FOUNDATION BOARD

LAKE JUNALUSKA, NC – Dr. Michael Hoon Yang has joined The Foundation for Evanglism board of trustees. He is currently a Distinguished Adjunct Professor of EDISON Academy at Handong Global University (HGU), Pohang, Kyungbook, Korea. Prior to this, he was a consultant to the Rothschild Recovery Fund Group. He is also founder and former CEO of Bescom, Inc., the first commercial video on demand (VOD) service for Korea Telecom’s residential customers. Yang has also served in the technology and engineering fields. He is a member of the Executive Committee for the United Methodist Council (USA) on Korean American Ministries (UMCKAM), and is a Lay Elder at Korean Community Church of New Jersey (UMC).

The Foundation for Evangelism, a United Methodist non-profit organization, awards grants for the development and training of leaders in The United Methodist Church. Recipients of such grants include 13 seminaries throughout the world including Claremont School of Theology. The Foundation for Evangelism’s Board of Trustees is made up of United Methodist leaders from throughout the United States and oversaw the distribution of $3.4 million in grants awarded to partners in the United States, Africa, Germany and Russia in 2008.

The Foundation for Evangelism is an affiliate of the General Board of Discipleship of The United Methodist Church. Founded in 1949 by the late Dr. Harry Denman, the Foundation provides venture capital to develop leaders with a passion for evangelism who will have a multiplying impact on The United Methodist Church.
